The bride's inspiration for colors
The Wedding Quilt for my great nephew and his new bride was originally going to be made in the Exploding Heart pattern. Pieces were cut and labeled, and then they sat there, patiently waiting to be made into little blocks. A few blocks were made, but I just wasn't feeling it. After a great deal of thought, the decision was made for a simple layout. And that is what is happening this week!
I already had 5-1/2 inch pieces cut from a variety of fabrics purchased for the quilt plus coordinating fabrics from my stash. I looked in several of my books for pattern inspiration and found one from A Life With Quilts by Melanie Traylor. I am using the photo in the book as a visual guide only.
I am using a variety of grays, creams, text prints, and soft sage-y greens
Since my cataract surgeries are not scheduled until July, I hope to get this baby finished this month!
I am linking to Melva's Sew and Tell linky party!
I think it’s lovely. If you’re not feeling it, it’s best to move on. I think that sort of thing shows up in your work. —Pattie
ReplyDeleteSometimes simple is better, especially if you just can't get going on the original design. These are lovely, homey colors, and I think they'll make a cozy quilt!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's just good to change direction and go with something else! Those are challenging colors to work with, I think! I'm confident you'll get this finished before your surgery!
ReplyDeleteGood for you to take the stress away! Hugs
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just have to go with your instincts! I am sure it will be a beautiful quilt when done. Now I need to get going on my daughter's wedding quilt, back is being prepped and then on to quilting!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty! I love how you arranged the colors! The individual fabrics each have their own song to sing! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for making a decision and a new choice. I bet you get it done before your surgery...and you won't really be down that long .... a day or two... if all goes well. Fingers crossed that the quilting angels are with you as you continue with your newly revamped wedding quilt plan.
ReplyDeleteI like the simplicity and color scheme of this patchwork project.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've already changed the layout - lol! I hope to have it finished in the next week or so.
DeleteSounds like a good plan... and it seems that "simple" is IN. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWe just need to be "feeling it" to move forward. Great idea to change up.
