In Love Again!

The yarn side of my sewing room closet - I love every skein and would part with none!

NO, not in love with another man (next month will be 53 years of marital bliss with Mr DIY Guy, so nuh-uh), but with YARN! I have crocheted since my early 20s, and picked it up off and on since then, but recently, thanks to Karen merely mentioning her yarn stash, I'm loving it again! I have had these pretty yarns for a few years and have made a few projects, but recently rediscovered their allure.

My latest acquisition called Lion Brand Home Town -  planning to make a hat and a neck scarf

I'd love to make some wild socks out of these!

I've had these for awhile and can't decide what to make, but I love each color!

These sparklies will be neck scarves for the holidays

My most expensive purchase, this skein is Scheepjes Whirl in Green Tea Tipple
and contains a whopping 1000-plus yards! Maybe an afghan!

After Boomer the puppy chewed up my old craft bag, Mr DIY Guy told me to order a new one, so I got a nice one on Amazon (link here for those who asked!). It holds my projects, has a place for crochet needles, and has a clear plastic top with holes for my yarn to feed out as I use it. In the side pockets I have embroidery projects. And I keep it far out of reach of Boomer.😉

Made a bed runner for the guest bedroom and blogged about it here

Made myself a hat to keep my head warm this winter!

My current project is a red beanie with a stripe of white, as a nod to the crimson and cream colors of our favorite Oklahoma Sooners football team!

  2. Enjoy your yarn work! Dishcloths are the extent of my knitting talent.

  3. Your shelf of yarns is a a work of art in itself. I like looking at the (organized) "stuff" as much as seeing a finished project.

  4. Your yarns are so pretty up on that shelf, it will be so fun for you to jump in and make something wonderful. Usually I use yarn in the winter, I think I might have some socks started from last winter.

  5. I enjoy knitting, too, but have’t done as much in recent years. Maybe time to look at the stash and see what is calling my name.

  6. You do have beautiful yarns!! we were just talking about this last night - just over a year ago I learned to make hats and I had one yarn of Pink.... and that was it... and then.... over night the yarns exploded!! now I have like 10 yarns!!! Crazy and so much fun to use!! Enjoy all your pretties!!!

  7. Your yarns look so tidy on the shelves, mine are thrown willy nilly into baskets in the bottom of the craft closet, sigh. I have all the squares made for a large afghan but put them away a couple of years ago when warm weather came around. I think you've inspired me to get them out (once it cools off a bit more :-) ) and get them put together. I do like crocheting afghans when it gets chilly, since they keep me warm while I'm working on them. I look forward to seeing your projects so I can get more inspiration on mine - the sparkly yarn will make pretty scarves!

    1. Oh I hope I've inspired someone - lol! Yes I agree on crocheting in the winter - but I usually have to work around the kitties if I put a blanket of any kind on my lap during the winter. I've never crocheted with sparklies before so I look forward to it too!

  8. Once upon a time I did crochet. ;) I made two very large Afghans and used up all of the random yarn I had... and then I fell in love with quilting. End of story LOL!

  9. You yarn is beautiful. I love all the pretty colors. I also love to crochet, but it comes and goes in stages. I can't wait to see what you make!

  11. For the past several years, I’ve been purchasing yarn and knitting shawls, cowls, and hats. I wish I can crochet but can ever never get the tension right. I have a stash like yours and looking forward to storing it in the soon to be vacated bedroom. I have the same bag as you and I bought mine from Amazon too. In case my name doesn’t appear because it’s showing anonymous, this is Rose, something rosemade.

  12. I need to get the lead out and finish Squish's 1st year sweater!! I do love to have wool in my hands, but cotton has been the focus the last few years.

  14. You are really tempting me here! When I moved everything up to my new quilt studio, I got to "revisit" my yarn stash and it has been calling to me. I don't think I knit a thing all last winter but I think this year will be different. Keep posting yarn pics!

  15. And one more thing....can you share a link for that bag? (Like I need aNOTHer bag but that one is different from the other 3,675 I have, ya know?) (Okay, I only have a handful but still...)

  16. I was trying to work through my yarns but, eh, it isn’t going well. On the other hand I am not buying any. I agree maybe I’ll do more as the weather cools. Who knows. I do have some sock yarn I like but I don’t wear wool socks except the coldest months - too hot otherwise. Sigh.
