Fun times in Papaw's shed!
It is time to list our Likes! LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color hosts this weekly gratitude event. Visit her blog to see more thankfulness!
I will have skin cancer surgery in April, and I like having a dermatologist I trust. Ours is a PA, and I trust her every bit as much as I would a dermatologist with a medical degree. She works with degreed dermatologists, and is diligent, personable, caring, and personal.
I missed two of LeeAnn's prompts in February about our creative spaces, and they are so interesting to me. I plan to feature them next week when I have more time! But today I will answer her prompt of "Do you like Spring flowers? Which ones are your favorites? Do you plant them in your yard? is there a particular color you like?" Yes I love spring flowers, but my favorite is one that does not do as well here in north Texas. I grew up with beds of peonies that were planted back in the 1940s when my childhood home was built. We had white ones mostly with a few reds and pinks scattered around - the fragrance was heavenly. I also love roses but have never had much luck with them!
I'd love to read about your favorite spring flowers, so feel free to mention them in the comments. All of you have a wonderful week!
I love peonies too but have never been able to grow them. Sometimes I can grow good roses other times it is kind of sporadic they have a mind of their own.
ReplyDeleteLook at those happy smiles! I bet you've loved having them there, but are exhausted all at the same time! I always like PAs - they seem to really take time with you and listen, too. I am fascinated by peonies, but have never grown them - would love to smell their fragrance sometime! Happy Thursday, Linda!
ReplyDeleteHow precious are those grandchildren?!? I'm sure they haven't been spoiled at all while visiting. I love all spring flowers and have always enjoyed seeing photos of peonies. I've never lived where they grow but I sure like the looks of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to have the grands!!
ReplyDeleteHappy thoughts for your surgery!!!
I bet the grands are very happy! I love spring flowers and finally have some planted in my garden. I love seeing snowdrops bloom and tulips following soon after. Irises are a little later, but one of my other favorites. I have some old peonies that I live when they bloom too!
ReplyDeleteI live in the PNW and spring showed up this week (we've had snow and very cold temps). I live on a farm and have daffodils lining the long drive, I plant 100 feet of dahlias and last year I made a peony garden for cut flowers. I have 65 rose plants and thousands of tulips from my dutch oma. I have an extensive perennial garden that I call my friendship garden as we share with one another.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! It sounds like your move in 2020 was a good thing all around. Being closer to your daughter and the littles is priceless, and an hour's drive isn't too far. I do that twice every day for work. Oh, I love peonies, too. They rather resemble roses a bit, don't you think? I don't really think of them as Spring flowers but that might be because of my climate where they bloom more in mid- to late-June. Happy Thursday to you! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the grandkids. Good luck with the surgery!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful grandchildren, Linda and how nice you can have them with you for overnights so much easier now. Peonies are like the queens of garden flowers. A funny story...I had friends to dinner and picked a couple of peonies to put on the table which all admired when they sat down. Started to see the odd ant on the table and then more. From the peonies!! I read after that ants love peonies too. I had two bushes at the farm and they were a joy in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep you in my prayers for successful surgery and quick/complete recovery! I've only ever see peonies in pictures, since I split my time between Texas and Arizona - but they are a very pretty flower. The Texan in me particularly likes our spring wildflower season. I have a few daffodil bulbs that came from my niece a number of years ago, I like them very much since we lost her to cancer in 2019. I also like that I have a volunteer amaryllis bulb that blooms beautifully every year. It is wedged under one of my rain barrels, so it's in a very odd place, lol. I assume the previous owners of my house must have thrown it out, and it took root. Stay warm with this (hopefully last of the season) Texas cold spell!
ReplyDeleteI love peonies too! We bought a few little bushes last year but I'm not sure how they did over the winter. We put a metal frame around them for protection. We'll see how they do this year. So nice to have your grandchildren so close!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, I LOVE peonies! I had the prettiest ones in MD and the scent! heavenly. They are so lush, I love them in a flower arrangement. Nothing grows well here in Aurora CO so I have about given up. I do a few pots of wildflower seeds after the last frost in May. Your little who's magical, I hope she keeps that all her life!
ReplyDeleteI'm magical too, little sweetie.
