Today I am joining our host LeeAnna at Not Afraid Of Color and other bloggers for I Like Thursdays with posts about things that we like. My first like is this darling placemat I received from Rose at Something Rose Made. It makes me happy just to see it on my table, and even my husband keeps commenting on how pretty it is. I love Rose's choices of fabric, and the beautiful hand stitching is exquisite. The binding matches my coffee mug, and the US map on the back is perfect with both Oklahoma and Texas prominently featured on the fabric!
We recently sold our kitchen bar height table and chairs (they were rarely used) on Marketplace and replaced them with an old buffet we have had for years. My husband repainted it, hefted a recycled granite top on top, and gave it new hardware to convert it into a coffee and tea station for us! And I don't just like it, I love it!
Oklahoma Indian Taco
LeeAnna's suggested prompt for the week:
What is your favorite "fair food" What food do you only eat at the fair, or look forward to?
If you don't go to county or state fairs, what about the Renaissance Festival or regional festivals?
For years my favorite fair food was corn dogs, but when we lived in Oklahoma we discovered a new-to-us treat - the Oklahoma Indian Taco, also called the Navajo Taco. It has a base of delicious Indian fry bread layered with taco meat, beans, and the usual taco toppings. It is delicious, but I would be happy with the fry bread alone!
Let me know how your summer is going and what kind of fair food you like in the comments. Be sure to check out other positive posts here, and enjoy your upcoming weekend!
What a fun gift from Rose, and your mug is perfect for it, too! And I love the refurbished buffet. Your husband is a handy guy! I had Indian fry bread at an arts and crafts festival I went to in Arizona when we there in January. It was yummy!
ReplyDeletelove your coffee station table it looks really good. The fry bread taco looks good
ReplyDeleteI love your coffee nook. I do envy the space other parts of the country have in their houses; our New England homes have always been a little small...with odd corners. What fun to see a quilt from Rose in your possession. She is a gem. That Taco looks delish!
ReplyDeleteOh what a clever hubby...that is an awesome remake and so convenient. Rose's little quilt looks awesome and that taco looks so good. I'm with you, I would love the bread too.
ReplyDeleteThat new bar looks phenomenal! You must be so excited, I know I would be. I also know how much a piece of granite weighs, so that was no easy task.
ReplyDeleteThe placemat from Rose is sooo pretty. The colors are happy and how cute that the binding matches your coffee cup. Your husband did a great job with the buffet. It is functional and looks nice.
ReplyDeleteThe placemat is so sweet, and I love your coffee station! I have one set up for DH as well, in our laundry... he loves his coffee! Oooh that taco looks delicious! xx
ReplyDeleteThe coffee and tea station looks fantastic! Good job!
ReplyDeleteI never heard of the kind of taco but it sure looks good! I really like what you did with the buffet. The granite really takes it up a notch! Lovely placemat too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour placemat is lovely and you know I love that hand stitching as well! I love fry bread as well! Take good care!
ReplyDeleteYour buffet remodel looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteOoh, a very pretty gift! Your coffee/tea bar is gorgeous. Your Guy does nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shoutout-the placemat couldn’t have been given to a more lovelier person, I thought you would have like to haven seen the Texas/Oklahoma print. Your hubby is an amazing craftsman; I almost enjoy seeing him as much as the kitties in your Posts. Fried bread, yum, reminds me of Sopaipilla, the fried dough I had many years ago in New Mexico, so good with honey. As usual, I’m hungry after reading your Posts. Hugs from something rosemade
ReplyDeleteWhat a great coffee/tea table! Great to have handy hubby around! Love the placemats, taco with fry bread too. Have a great week - just sit in a tub of ice water! LOL
ReplyDeleteYour coffee bar looks great, Linda and the Oklahoma Indian taco looks so yummy.
ReplyDeleteThe placemat from Rose is so fun - she is such a generous soul. I love the new coffee bar, what a great idea! I'd love to try that taco - yum!
ReplyDeleteYum, that taco looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI missed your Thursday post from last week, the 6th. That happens to me as I am away from home on Thursdays and don’t always get back to my blog reading. I love the pretty placemat from Rose. And your new coffee/tea station is great! Is the color the same as DH’s outdoor kitchen? It’s a good color. Indian tacos are great, just not for my waistline. I’ve been overdoing a bit lately. Company, birthday parties for special littles. Yikes! I gotta get back on program!
