Currently on my design wall is Winging It by Wendy Sheppard of Ivory Spring. I have started sewing the blocks together with sashing. Once those are done, sashing will go between the rows, then a border will be added. It is intended for my sis-in-law who loves turquoise. The back of it will be mostly solid turquoise, just in case she doesn't like the front - lol! I should finish it sometime next week.
In spite of my resolve not to join in any more sew-alongs, I am printing the block patterns for Moda's Blockheads 5 SAL and have started a fabric pull. After I finish Winging It, I'll start a quilt for my oldest grandson (which will involve Texas A&M colors and which I would like to finish before Christmas), a T-shirt quilt for my new son-in-law, and a bedspread quilt for our king-sized bed. I also want to start two quilts squirrel-spired by fellow bloggers - the Smores quilt and the Scrappy Star quilt described in this post. And let's not forget the yarn projects and cross stitch and embroidery projects I have started!
I have fallen victim to the virus that often attacks all creators - "Startitis". While you won't find mention of this disease on on the CDC website, you can Google "startitis" and see that it chronically affects many long-suffering quilters, crocheters, knitters, painters, needleworkers, and crafters. There are some really humorous posts about it! Some say there is no cure, and some recommend an injection of "Finishitis" - lol!
Are you a Startitis victim? Hope you are are looking forward to a great weekend and the start of meteorological fall on Saturday!
Winging It is so cool, love those colors. I had a bad case of startitis at the beginning of the year, but I seem to have worked it out of my system for the moment. I'm now ready to concentrate on moving some older quilts to the finished line. Fingers crossed that your bought is short lived.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I never looked it up but not surprised the CDC doesn't have it listed - they should :) I know I have a couple projects set aside and wonder if I will ever get back to it. Nice to plan a color on the back of the quilt that the SIL will like and be able to use either side. I had given my brother and wife a big Xmas theme quilt not thinking that they would only be able to use it now and then but because they are obsessed with the season - good thing the back was in stripes - they use the stripe side for most of the year and then flip it over and use the winter theme for 4 months of the year.
ReplyDeleteI guess we should sign up for Startitis Anonymous where there would be quite a few of us enrolled. But that is the downside of being a creative soul, Linda. We love it all so much. I keep thinking if only I could stick to small projects, I'd be on top of things better. But meanwhile I am determined to chip away at the flimsies getting them quilted. I love seeing what you create so happy Stitching from me, a fellow victim, LOL.
ReplyDeleteLol, I always have startitis! Glad I'm not the only one, Linda. Your butterfly blocks are so pretty, and I love the background fabric. (I think I called it blue on Instagram - but it's a beautiful shade of turquoise, too!) It will be fun to see how your other new projects take shape!
ReplyDeleteHope the “startitis” is not catching or debilitating. Love the colors in both your projects - and they seem to share some common ones. It will be fun to watch them grow into quilts.
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I wonder which quilter among us does not have Startitis! Love your Winging It, I have made mine slightly smaller but wish I had done a colour background, my white is very stark. I have started!! Blockheads 5 as well. I haven't done Blockheads yet so thought would give it a go. Did block 1 in 6 inch which was pretty difficult (for me), only thinking about this weeks so far.
ReplyDeleteLove the butterflies! ...and I am very familiar with startitis. It struck me this week too.
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized with your goals! Goodness, I barely know what project I'll do when I finish the one I'm working on! And, the startitis thing... I'll be using that one!
ReplyDeleteMan, oh man, do I suffer from Startitis too! Lol! I believe we're in good company. Love your butterfly quilt and I too am collecting Blockheads 5 patterns. YOIKS!
ReplyDeleteI’m in need of a huge dose of “finishitis”! I’ve become such a keeper( read almost hoarder) of things to do someday! It’s definitely a problem!
ReplyDeleteOh she will ADORE the front - this is a great quilt!!! ( and start away!! its fun!)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha - I definitely have Startitis. I don't think I'll take the vaccine, I'm having too much fun! Your quilt is coming along nicely, and your other projects sound like a lot of fun. I did Moda Blockheads II but haven't done any others. That quilt top is still waiting to be finished . . .
ReplyDeleteLOL@startitis! But I must say, the blue background fabric is compelling and draws you into the butteflies. Really nice color choices!
