Autumn Vibes

November is my favorite month! I look forward to October - December all year, and I want the season to slow down so I can savor it. Our weather is not really cooperating, but I just love this time of year!

There are two squirrels currently fighting for dominance in my space, and this is my latest Squirrel-spiration. I plan to make a table runner and hope to have it quilted and posted this week. The blocks are Cheyenne blocks and are quick and easy to make (even though I sew them together wrong and have to take them apart!) I love the colors and can't wait to finish!

I'm using my hoarded "Fancy Cats" panel by Makower, UK.

I continue to make Sixteen Across blocks, squirrel-spired by Susies-scraps.com, and it will eventually become a Christmas quilt. I am so happy to give my Christmas scraps a home! Diann is doing them as leaders/enders and you can see her pretty blocks here.

Here is a rough idea of what sashing and scrappy cornerstones would look like as a layout.

Since I stopped hosting To Do Tuesday, my blog reading and posting has slowed down as I finally realized that it is not my responsibility to comment on every blog or record everything I do in my sewing room - lol! I am currently not participating in any linkups or sewalongs, and the extra time is a good thing. I am saving the patterns for Moda Blockheads 5, but so far have not started any blocks.

My Hubs has a "polysomnography" at a hospital sleep lab this week to determine if he is a candidate for a CPAP mask. He apparently has borderline severe sleep apnea. His cardiologist told him that means he is deprived of oxygen several times per night, and that makes his heart work harder. Since his heart attack in 2012, he has had stents and a cardioverter-defibrillator implanted, so we want to make sure we are doing everything possible for his heart. But it will be the first night we've been apart since 2017, and we are both dreading it - lol!

What are you up to on this "Fall Back" Sunday?

  1. If your husband snores a lot he probably has sleep apnea - my husband made so much noise at night I was sleeping in other rooms half the time just so I could get some sleep and using ear plugs -- he wouldn't believe me about the snoring until I recorded him and he started to have heart issues. Glad you husband is taking care of this and good luck!

  2. Oh my goodness, those Cheyenne blocks in the Autumn colors are gorgeous, Linda! You have the perfect fabric for the November vibes there. Love your 16 Across blocks, too. They're going to make a pretty Christmas quilt. Good luck to your hubs with his sleep study. I hope you sleep that night, too - I know what you mean about not being apart from him much. No fun!

  3. Loving your Cheyenne project so much! I could see that in a whole quilt. Hmmm might have to save that idea-do you mind? Sorry I haven't been by to check out your projects lately. My hubby uses a C-pap because of a-fib, he snored a lot and I used earplugs or years. Important to keep these guys healthy:)

  4. I love your Cheyenne blocks! I adore the sashing you are choosing for the 16 block patches. I love using up small fabric for 16 patches and that is a great idea! Sending hugs as your husband does the test. I hope they do give him the machine, it has helped some of our family members a lot. Keeping you and your family in our prayers!

  5. Hi Linda! I'm so glad you've given yourself permission to slow down and take/make time for yourself and your family. I may just have to bow out of link ups, too. My production is at a all time low and that's okay - unless you feel like you have to chat about it with nothing to say! Gosh, I love the blocks and fabric for your table runner!! That does look like an easy to make block but the colors and prints are what make me smile. I hope all get cleared up for DH. That is scary, thinking about not breathing several times during the night. Yikes!! Getting it figured out will give you both some relief. {{Hugs}} a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. I had to enlarge the picture of your Christmas quilt in order to get a good look at all of that fabric. What a wide variety you have, all of it gorgeous. This is going to be an amazing quilt.

  8. I think that an intentional slow down is a fine thing to do sometimes. Aren't you wise to realize when it was time for it.

  10. Both of your projects are such fun. Your table runner definitely matches the fall vibes. It does take a lot of time to keep up with blogland. I post 4 times a week, that's enough, especially when one is a linky party.

  13. Your Sixteen Across blocks in those pretty Christmas/winter fabrics is wonderful, Linda. I've not heard of the pretty Cheyenne block and such lovely fabrics in those too...will be a fabulous table runner. Yes, we need to just stitch all for ourselves sometimes and go as the spirit moves us. Hope hubby does fine with the overnight test. My son in law had to doit and he wears quite a contraption over his face while sleeping now.

  14. Oh, Linda. I do hope your husband's test gave you encouraging results. I also understand taking care of a husband's heart. Since the demise of Bloglovin I've had a hard time keeping up with the blogs I like to follow. Sorry to be so late in commenting.
